    There is currently a Legislative BILL that has been submitted to New York State Governor Cuomo for his signature. The BILL numbers are A01869 / S06675 and “requires notice to be given to the fire department with jurisdiction over a residential building where construction will utilize truss type, pre-engineered wood, or timber construction”.

    When it comes to wildfire response, Federal Excess Property (FEPP) and FPP Equipment transfers programs are a critical resource. Two programs that allow local fire departments to obtain “excess” U.S. Department of Defense equipment to help fight wildland fires have been shut down abruptly and without warning. The FEPP and FPP have been suspended apparently because the used equipment do not meet federal emissions standards.

    NYS Senate (S7618 (LaValle) and Assembly A9705 (Thiele) Bills were introduced May 16, 2014 that proposes to Increase the maximum contribution under a “Defined Contribution” (DC) plan service award. These NYS Bills if passed would amend the GML Section 218 (b) to increase the maximum contribution under a Defined Contribution (DC) LOSAP plan annually to $2,100 from the current $700. This is the only change noted in the amended GML Section 218 (b) Bill.
