    In February 2014, one person died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a Long Island restaurant. The state Legislature acted with the appropriate urgency, and two years later, a law is on the books requiring the installation of CO detectors in all commercial properties. This is an excellent example of public officials taking advantage of existing, widely available technologies to improve the public safety.

    NFPA is hosting a FREE live-cast (simulcast) of a presentation on the Firefighter of the Future on Monday November 7 from 10:15-11:45am (Eastern). The presentation will be given by Casey Grant of the Fire Protection Research Foundation.  This presentation is a simulcast from the NFPA’s 2016 Responder Forumbeing held in Charlotte, NC from November 7-9.

    The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York is pleased to announce that the 2017 “Ned Carter" Scholarship awards information and application package which is now available on-line. These scholarships are available to New York State High School Seniors who will be graduating in June 2017.
